Accessibility is more than one ramp
Accessible routes can involve curb ramps, sidewalks, landings, parking interfaces and transitions between surfaces. A change in one area can affect the slope or elevation of the next, so the route should be reviewed as a connected system.
Existing sites can be more complex
Retrofit work must fit around grades, drainage, entrances and pavement that are already in place. That can make elevation control and tie-ins especially important during demolition and replacement.
